Overview

Trackee ("we", "us", or "our") is a personal and group expense tracking application. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding your data. By using Trackee, you agree to the practices described here.

Information We Collect

Account Information

When you create an account, we collect your name, email address, and a hashed password. If you sign in via Google or Facebook OAuth, we receive your name, email, and profile picture from those providers — we do not receive or store your social media password.

Financial Data

To provide our core service, we store the financial information you enter:

  • Expenses (title, amount, currency, category, date, notes, merchant)
  • Group expenses and how they are split among members
  • Settlements between group members
  • Personal budgets per category
  • Recurring bills (title, amount, due date, category)
  • Uploaded receipt images associated with expenses

We do not collect or have access to your actual bank accounts, credit cards, or any payment credentials.

Usage Data

We may collect standard server logs (IP address, browser type, pages visited, timestamps) to maintain service reliability and diagnose errors. This data is not linked to your financial records.

How We Use Your Information

  • Provide, maintain, and improve the Trackee service
  • Authenticate your identity and secure your account
  • Calculate balances, splits, and budget summaries
  • Send transactional emails (e.g. password reset, group invitations)
  • Diagnose technical issues and monitor service health

We do not use your financial data for advertising, profiling, or selling to third parties.

Data Sharing

We do not sell or rent your personal data. We share information only in these limited circumstances:

  • Within your groups: Members of a group can see expenses, splits, and balances for that group. They cannot see your personal budgets, bills, or expenses outside the group.
  • Service providers: We use Supabase (database and authentication) to store your data. These providers process data solely to deliver our service and are bound by data processing agreements.
  • Legal requirements: We may disclose information if required by law or to protect the rights and safety of our users.

Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored on Supabase-managed PostgreSQL databases with encryption at rest and in transit (TLS). Passwords are never stored in plain text. We use Supabase Auth for session management with short-lived JWT tokens.

While we implement industry-standard safeguards, no system is completely immune to security risks. We encourage you to use a strong, unique password and enable any available two-factor authentication.

Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, your personal data (expenses, budgets, bills, and profile) will be permanently deleted within 30 days. Group expenses where other members are involved may be retained in anonymized form to preserve the integrity of shared records for those members.

Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Correct inaccurate data in your profile and records
  • Export your data in a portable format
  • Delete your account and associated personal data
  • Withdraw consent for optional data processing at any time

Third-Party Services

Trackee integrates with the following third-party services, each governed by their own privacy policies:

  • Supabase — database and authentication
  • Google OAuth — optional sign-in method
  • Facebook OAuth — optional sign-in method

Children's Privacy

Trackee is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of Trackee after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
